Maracatu @ Stern Grove (San Francisco) on Sun, Aug 9

Maracatu is a Brazilian beat from Pernambuco, a state in the Northeast region of Brazil. It is very rich and represents many cultural and historic elements. I won't attempt to define Maracatu, but I can tell you that it is intense, colorful, and vibrant. The maracatu drums are unbelievable.

The good news is that if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area you will be able to enjoy live Maracatu this coming Sunday, August 9th, at the Stern Grove Festival where Nation Beat will be performing.

Free Maracatu in a beautiful park in gorgeous San Francisco - I can't ask for more.

I saw a Maracatu group back in 2007 in Uruguaiana, RS, BR. They were great!
